Jooyoung

Art Therapist

Jooyoung (JY) is an ANZACATA-registered Art Therapist who holds a Master of Art Therapy degree. He firmly believes that creativity can foster authentic interpersonal connections. By focusing on person-centred care, JY aims to develop inclusive and deeply personalised therapeutic programs.

As a culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) practitioner, JY draws on lived experience to guide his work with empathy and collaboration. He is fluent in both Korean and English and is committed to supporting individuals from all backgrounds, particularly during times of vulnerability or transition.

Before joining the Hub and Spoke Health team, JY received training in Art Therapy across various community settings, including the Hawthorn Community House and the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre. He draws on his diverse experience in different aspects of the creative industry during service delivery.

JY’s experience includes work in fine arts, theatrical design, and music/sound production. JY has worked with various client groups, including individuals, families, and groups. He has also participated in and supported the design of large-scale events, such as art exhibitions and Olivia’s Walk for Wellness.

Outside of work, JY maintains an active practice as both an artist and sound producer, engaging in art, music, and podcast projects. He enjoys spending time with friends and family, going for hikes, cooking, and reading.
