Home Physio: The Benefits of Seeing a Therapist in the Comfort of Your Own Home

Home Physio is becoming an increasingly popular choice for treatment, and there are many benefits to be had from seeing a therapist in the comfort of your own home. People often ask why would I have physio at home rather than go to the physio, here are just a few reasons why Home Physio might be the right choice for you:

1) Convenience.

Home Physio can be more convenient, as you don’t have to travel to and from appointments.

Rather than have an in-room physio session, our physios and exercise physiologist come to you. You won’t have to sit in traffic, wait in waiting rooms for late appointments, or get back in your car to undo all the good the physio has done for you during the session.

We understand that your time is precious, so we do our best to make Home Physio as convenient as possible for you.

2) Familiarity and privacy.

The applicability of rehab at home versus rehab in the office. What better place to teach someone how to get upstairs after a knee replacement or hip replacement than in their home. Rather than practising stairs in an unfamiliar environment, wouldn’t it make more sense to practice stairs in the area in which they live? Research shows results often better in an environment in which patients are custom to rather than in foreign environments.

Home physio also means we can work with you in the privacy of your own home, without worrying about who might be watching or listening in. You may feel more comfortable discussing certain issues in your own home, and you don’t have to worry about who might overhear you in a clinic waiting room. Home physio can also be more private, as you don’t have to share treatment rooms with other patients.

We understand that not everyone is comfortable having a stranger in their home. If this is the case, we are more than happy to meet you at an agreed-upon public location such as a local park.

3) Reduce other risks.

As our practitioners only see a handful of patients per day, this reduces the risk of transmitting viruses within a poorly ventilated area. Our practitioners perform a rigid infection control protocol to ensure you stay safe.  Home visits limit the risk of being exposed to other patients who may be carrying infectious diseases. Home visits provide a safe environment for you and your family.

Home visits also allow us to take a look at other potential risks in your home environment that may be exacerbating your condition. For example, we can assess your bed, chair and workstation set up to make sure they are ergonomically sound and not putting you at risk of further injury.
