Molly Stephenson

Art Therapist

Preston, VIC 3072

Hello! I’m Molly Stephenson, I am an ANZACATA registered Art Therapist (AThR), a practicing visual artist and committed health-care professional recognized for my warmth, authenticity and incorporation of humor and play in my sessions. Adopting a person-centered approach that is informed by positive psychology and working within a strength based framework is at the forefront of my practice.

I hold a recent Master’s degree in Art Therapy (2023), a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts (Honours) (2020), as well as a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts (2019). I am driven, responsible and empathetic, with a deep appreciation for the nuances of both verbal and non-verbal communication in my interactions with both clients and work colleagues. I pride myself on educating and advocating for art therapy and its benefits to a range of diverse population groups, and believe this is how we can continue to strengthen and inform the community about wellness. I have experience working in community mental health, aged care facilities and in palliative care organizations with adults and older adults at Olivia Newton John Cancer, Wellness & Research Centre, Wintringham Ron Conn Nursing Home & Banksia Palliative Care.

Some of my many interests within the field are researching how existential art therapy and eco-art therapy can be used in palliative care and community mental health settings to improve a client’s quality of life, promote self expression, and foster connection within their interpersonal relationships and within their community.

Outside of clinical work; I love to wind down by being by the beach, swimming, cooking, visiting galleries in Melbourne, making artwork with friends and being around animals!

I am located in Melbourne’s northern suburbs and are available for home visits on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 9:00am-5:00pm. I look forward to meeting you!
